Let’s build a Human Machine – TOGETHER!
Today, you’re going to help create something amazing, a giant, moving, noisy Human Machine, built entirely from people!
No one needs to move from where they’re sitting. Instead, each section of the room, will become one special part of the machine.
Teachers, here’s how to start:
Split the hall into clear sections. For example:
- By rows
- By Primary (or by whatever works best for your space.)
Each section is a machine part, and together you’ll power the whole thing. You’ll have a couple of minutes to work with your group and come up with:
- A sound (e.g. clunk, whoosh, zap, tick-tick!)
- A repeatable movement (e.g. stomping feet, waving hands, shoulder rolls, finger twirls)
- A creative name for your part (silly names welcome!)
Here are some fun part ideas to help get you started:
- The Wiggly Whistlers — lots of arm flapping and soft whooshing
- The Sproinging Springers — bouncing on the spot with a boing sound
- The Clunking Cogs — twisting side to side while saying “clunk!”
- The Power Pistons — strong up-and-down movements with a “pshh” sound
Now for the fun part… assembling the machine!
When your teacher gives you the signal, your section will start your sound and movement on a loop. Then the next group joins in… and then the next… until the entire room is alive with rhythm and teamwork.
Watch how every section plays its part. Together, you’ll build one big, brilliant, bonkers Human Machine.
Ready to power it up?
