This guide provides an overview of how videos work in Merve, focusing on the transcription service and practical ways to integrate videos into your content. Here’s a concise breakdown:
Transcription Service: Merve lets you generate video transcripts directly from the Resource Explorer. This action consumes AI tokens, which are part of your plan’s allocation (e.g., 1 million tokens on the Starter Plan at £49/month). The cost scales with video length and the number of additional languages.
Token Usage: Transcription is token-heavy, but overages are reasonably priced. Detailed pricing is available on the Billing Page.
Sharing Videos: Videos can be shared via direct links from your Space or Library, with privacy settings like Public, Request Access, or Invite-Only.
Embedding in Content: Videos can be embedded into structured content (e.g., lessons, pages) using the Insert Resource option. This allows seamless integration of videos alongside text, images, and PDFs.

In this guide, we’ll cover how videos work in Merve, including the transcription service and how to integrate videos into your content. Whether you're embedding videos in a library, sharing them directly, or adding them to structured content, Merve makes it straightforward.
Merve provides a built-in transcription service for videos. Here’s how it works:
Accessing Transcripts:
Navigate to the Resource Explorer (found on the left-hand side of your dashboard).
Select the video you’d like to transcribe. If a transcript has already been generated, it will appear as an option.
Generating or Regenerating Transcripts:
You can regenerate a transcript for any video. Clicking this option will show the cost in AI tokens.
Transcription is a token-heavy action. For example:
On the Starter Plan (£49/month), you receive 1 million tokens.
The cost scales with video length: longer videos consume more tokens.
Adding translations (e.g., French, Spanish) doubles or further increases the cost for each additional language.
Token Costs and Overages:
Token pricing details are available on the Billing Page.
Overages are reasonably priced, so you can continue transcribing even if you exceed your plan’s token limit.
Videos can be shared via a direct link from your Space or Library.
Ensure your privacy settings are configured correctly:
Public: Anyone with the link can view the video.
Request Access: Viewers must request permission.
Invite-Only: Only invited users can access the video.
Videos can be seamlessly integrated into your content structures (e.g., lessons, pages, or guides). Here’s how:
Inserting Videos:
Open the content editor (e.g., a lesson or page).
Use the Insert Resource option to add:
Videos / Images / PDFs
Example Workflow:
In the Demo Library, you might have a section about "Mountains".
At the bottom of this section, use Insert Resource to embed a video.
The video will appear inline.
