To err is human
Alexander Pope (not a real Pope)
The way we understand that quote is that everyone make mistakes, and that doing so is an essential part of life. We’ve made them. You’ve made them. And we’ll all continue to make them.
As is the nature of a mistake, we tend not to know that it’s the wrong thing to do until after we’ve actually done it. So following on from the example Stuart gave in the previous video, we want you to think about a time in your life when you said the wrong thing at the wrong time.
Think of an example, you should all have one that you’ll be able to remember. What did you say? Why was it wrong? How did it make others feel? Write down as much detail as you can.
Now let’s flip it over and think if you’ve ever said the right thing at the right time. Once again, what did you say? Why was it the right thing? And how did it make others feel? Write about it, again giving as much detail as you can.
