Just like a roller coaster, life is full of ups, downs, twists, loops and unexpected turns. Some of it brings us joy and some of it brings us absolute fear!
But it’s not just life we can compare to a roller coaster. Each and every day can at times feel like an emotional roller coaster. From the moment you get up to the moment you go to your bed we can experience all sorts of highs and lows.
For this exercise we want you to draw a rollercoaster that represents the day that you had yesterday. Think of it like a roller coaster graph, but with lots of colours and pictures.
Begin your roller coaster drawing from the second you woke up and show the journey you went on. Where were the highs and lows and where were the unexpected twists?!
Have a look the different highs and lows and try to figure out why they’re happening. Is there anything you are doing regularly that negatively effects your mood, and what can you do about it?
Likewise, is there anything you’re doing making you feel great that you should be doing more of?
You can always plot an emotional roller coaster for yourself each night for a few days. It helps you to spot any trends worth looking at!
