Fold a piece of paper into 3 columns or draw them out in your workbook. Write SITUATION at the top of the 1st column and CHIMP at the top of the 2nd column. We’ll use the 3rd one later.
Think of 5 different situations that you might find yourself in during a fairly normal week of your life and write these in the first column. Examples could be ‘Sitting in French class‘ or ‘Going to hockey practice‘.
For each one, think of an action that the chimp part of your brain might think is a good idea for that particular situation, something that isn’t helpful. Examples could include ‘Doodling mindlessly in your book‘ or ‘Turning up late‘.
We’ll be coming back to this shortly.
