Let’s have a think about the times when you have got the giggles at the wrong time…
Can you think of a time in your life when you’ve laughed, or even felt a laugh coming on, but you really shouldn’t?
Discuss with a friend or share with the class:
What made you a laugh and what happened afterwards.
Did you get into trouble?
Did it make someone else feel bad?
Sometimes we need to be a careful how we react. Let’s have a think about where and when we react to things…
Start by drawing a face but before you add the features draw a line down the middle of the face from forehead to chin.
On one side draw a the person laughing.
On the other draw a serious expression.
Beside the laughing face write down all the times and places that it is ok to have a good laugh.
Here are a few to get you started: in the playground, with your friends, watching a funny tv show…
Now beside the serious face write down all the times where it’s a good idea to be sensible.
For example, when you a meant to be listening to instructions, completing your homework, or when you are being told off for something (laughing when this is happening usually ends up in a bigger row!)
The next time you feel a laugh coming on, just double check that situation is appropriate before the belly laugh rolls on out of you!
We know it is hard learning the difference between these two things, but trust us can really help you out in the future.
