It’s time to start thinking about sending good wishes to other people. To do this we are going to create a class ‘potion’.
For this you will need a large container or cauldron to mix up your potion, and each child will need a bag or bucket to collect some items to add to the potion.
Your potion will be made of all sorts of wonderful, natural objects. Take some time to discuss with the class the types of lovely natural objects they have noticed in their playground/outside space.
Have they noticed any things that smell lovely or feel nice?
Get your outdoor clothes on and get ready to head outside.
Give the children time to explore their outdoor area and collect some natural items that look/smell/feel nice and put them in their own cup/jar/box e.g. leaves, flower heads, petals, bark, small stones, feathers. (make sure you mention things to avoid too – jaggy, smelly, sharp objects).
As they collect their items ask them to notice WHY they have chosen each thing.
Children should gather up to 12 or so items. Then bring the group back together and sit in a circle round the large container/bucket/cauldron!
