Don’t hide from your weaknesses. You need to know what they are to be able to improve and progress.
Let’s imagine that you’re absolutely hopeless with numbers. Sums, equations, counting, adding, subtracting, multiplying, the lot. It all makes you feel sick and you hate being confronted with it.
Let’s imagine also that at the same time you’re excellent at spelling. You can spell a lot of complex words and you can do it quickly, even tricky words like ‘rhythm’.
In this situation, which one do you think you spend your time practicing?
Numbers, of course. Now that’s not to say you abandon spelling as if you’ve totally completed it, because that’s not the case – remember all good superheroes have to use their strengths and build on them. But you should still be pouring more effort and time into bringing up your numeracy skills, because that’s the only way you’re going to improve it.
It’s not going to improve all by itself.
Tackling your weaknesses is the best way to become a better version of yourself.
