Moff was usually a very cheery chinchilla. She was always smiling and was very kind to everyone she met. She loved to skip and play in the playground with her friends and she loved to sing and to dance and do funny voices and tell jokes.
Moff had a very precious belonging that she kept extremely safe in her school bag. It was something that was very special to her and she liked to have it near her at all times. It was a _____ (ask class for hands up and accept the first answer you are given) and it was given to her by someone so very special to her; her _____ (ask class for hands up and accept the first answer you are given).
One morning Moff came into school not looking herself at all. Her eyes were all puffy and red and the smile on her face was nowhere to be seen. Moff was NOT feeling cheerful today – in fact she was super sad.
She had LOST her special _____ from her _____. She could not find it ANYWHERE! All her family had helped her look and it seemed to really be gone now. Moff thought that she would be sad forever now without her precious _____.
When her friends saw her they asked if she was OK. She simply replied quietly, ‘no’.
Her teacher asked her if there was anything he could do to help her. She simply replied quietly, ‘no’.
The dinner servers at lunch-time saw how sad Moff looked and asked her if she wanted some extra ice-cream to make her feel better? She simply replied quietly, ‘no thank you’.
Her best friend sat beside Moff for the whole of lunchtime but Moff didn’t say a word.
