Boredom is actually a stress state.
From the outside, bored people may look like they’re slowing down, but brain scans reveal the opposite. Inside their brains are often speeding up, out of frustration. So basically boredom is a high state of being. When we’re bored, we’re ready to discover something new or to just be in the moment, satisfied with how things are.
Some people confuse boredom with laziness. Laziness brings up images of someone lounging around, not wanting to do anything. People who are bored feel restless to do something, but nothing feels compelling or motivating. They feel stuck.
So, what about in a work context? Have you ever felt bored or stuck? Ever think about shaking things up and doing them differently? Or scrapping something entirely and just starting again. There’s always going to be things we don’t like or that we feel could be more exciting.
It’s just some people do something about it and others don’t.
