Skills for Learning, Life & Work, Request access

Schools play an important role in helping children develop far more than subject knowledge. Every day, pupils are learning the skills that help them communicate, solve problems, work with others, think creatively and face challenges with confidence. These transferable skills shape how children learn, build relationships and respond to the opportunities and challenges they encounter every day. Skills are not developed by simply learning about them. They grow through experience, reflection and opportunities to use them every day. Skills for Learning, Life and Work is a ready-to-use assembly programme designed to bring these essential skills to life. Across twelve engaging filmed assemblies, pupils discover each skill through fascinating stories drawn from science, psychology, nature and the real world, combined with practical activities, humour and meaningful discussion. Designed for primary schools, the programme is fully filmed and simple to deliver. Staff can press play, facilitate discussion and create meaningful opportunities for whole-school reflection without extensive preparation. Built around the twelve Meta-Skills identified by Skills Development Scotland, the programme provides a practical and engaging way to develop transferable skills that are recognised and valued across education throughout the UK. These assemblies are designed to spark conversations, strengthen relationships and help these essential skills move beyond the assembly hall into classrooms, playgrounds, homes and everyday life.

    Values in Action, Request access

Welcome to Values in Action Values help shape every school community. They influence how pupils treat one another, respond to challenges, make decisions and contribute to the culture of the school. Yet values are often easier to display on a wall than they are to bring to life. Values in Action is a ready to use assembly programme designed to help pupils explore what values look like in everyday life. Through a series of filmed assemblies, children discover that values are not simply words to remember, but behaviours that are lived through the choices they make every day. Designed for primary schools, each assembly is fully filmed and simple to deliver. Staff can press play, facilitate the discussion activities and create meaningful opportunities for whole school reflection without extensive preparation. Grounded in wellbeing, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and the principles of Rights Respecting Schools, the programme helps schools develop a shared language around values while encouraging children to understand that every interaction, every decision and every response helps shape both the person they become and the community they create. These assemblies are designed to spark conversations, strengthen relationships and help values move beyond the assembly hall into classrooms, playgrounds, homes and everyday life.
